READY… Heading out for our New Year’s Eve spin class. #twohoursofcrazy

What are you doing, doing New Year’s Eve?

On several of the blogs I read I see headlines such as- Have the Night of Your Life- Make this a New Year’s Eve to Remember and Party until Dawn- the only one which was remotely appealing was the Mingle Bell Rock- that is just cute!

I have never been a huge fan of December 31- it always seems so anti-climactic- you must have the time of you your life where ever you are and if you are not celebrating like this is your last party ever, then your upcoming year will be equally as dull as your previous one ended. Here in Edinburgh the celebration of Hogmanay is legendary, almost more important than Crimbo with street parties, fireworks and thousands of revellers filling our streets and local pubs.

To ring in 2013, Ben and I have decided instead of the cheese picnic we had discussed in early December, we are going to partake in a two-hour spin class (stationary bicycles) from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. Our local spinning gym, LifesCycle have been promised fantastic music with stunning visuals on the big screen that keeps me distracted while pedalling furiously.

Not only will we start the New Year refreshed, strong and a bit sore we will most likely be the good kind of dehydrated!

Spin on 2013.

(Picture by us- we are having some fun with long exposures and our Knog Frog bicycle light)

GYM TIME… Ben and I were able to squeeze in a workout while the gym was open during Christmas break (being members of the Uni gym has some disadvantages). Here is Ben after our first set of circuits- we did 1000 meters on the rowing machines as fast as we could go- Ben is clearly puffed, but he rallied for the second set of circuits.

There are no words and this video is pretty boring- it could be in a bad museum.

IT LASTS ALL YEAR… Yum mum’s cake is top.*

*Guest post from Ben- hijacked my iPhone for this brief, yet heartfelt post.

Mor Christmas food memories to come this week.

SWEET… Ben and his adorable mom. A post-brunch walk about Edinburgh.

WE WISH YOU A VERY MERRY… Have a great time celebrating during the festive period. We wish you all the most relaxing and fun-filled holiday. Lots of love- Buffy and Ben

Based on my clues- did you guess where I was yesterday?

I was in London, just for the day.

Being American does not always have its benefits- I was required to drop my documents at the Brazilian Consulate in person. It was a total of nine hours on the train for forty-five minutes with the friendly Brazilians. If all goes according to the plan, I will have my visa in early January.

With a few hours to kill, I went to Look Mum No Hands for lunch and then popped in to the Tate Modern for an afternoon of art. A good day out.

I was tucked into bed by midnight!

Ben’s parents arrive this afternoon- let the celebrating begin.

GUESS WHERE II… Another picture clue, any guesses?

GUESS WHERE… Not in Edinburgh today. Where was this stunner of a self portrait snapped? #whereisbuffy

I am officially on vacation until January 7- I am looking forward to my almost three week break. This is pretty cool.

But what is cooler, I already had an exciting day which included a celebrity sighting.

Picture me on the escalators at Harvey Nichols department store where I was brushed aside by Stella Tennant’s children and Stella herself- rustic-glam in jeans and Comme des Garcons sneakers

Who is Stella Tennant ( I see my father-in-law asking himself)? She is a Scottish model who has walked the runway for all the major designers. Most recently at the Chanel show at Linlithgow Castle.

So exciting- celebs they are just like us- rushing around at Christmas looking for the perfect gifts for husbands and in-laws.

Other celeb sightings in my time- Sienna Miller (London Heathrow), Geri Halliwell (Notting Hill, London) and Charles Shaughnessy (NYC).
