A 70’s cop, a certain MBA program director, certain hipsters and Ben. People that pull off the moustache.
I first heard of Movember when our Australian friend, Thomas introduced it to Ben and Will during their MBA year in Grenoble. It did not catch on among the MBA, Thomas struggled slightly to grow a stache, Ben says he looks like a 14 year old boy without his goatee and Will went a bit too far.
I noticed more and more men in Scotland rocking the mo (mo is slang for moustache), I did a bit of research and it turns out, Movember is a real thing, not only dreamt up by Thomas (sorry Tom) and it is attached to a great cause, Men’s Health.
During Movember, men are encouraged to go to the doctor for an annual check-up to help increase early detection for men-type cancers and other diseases. Beside the annual check-up The Movember Foundation encourages men to adopt an overall healthier lifestyle.
The U.S. site sums Movember up as moustache growing charity, you can sponsor your favorite MoBro and track their progress. Last year The Movember Foundation raised £11.7 million for their men’s health partners.
There are some strict rules that Ben did not follow, but if he was truly a MoBro (which he might be next year), these are the guidelines:
If I had taken the initiative to sign Ben up, then I would be a MoSista. A title I am quite interested in.
As someone who is very fond of the men in her life, I think I might take being a MoSista to the next level in Movember 2012, so Ben, John, Charlie and Will, watch out!
(Sorry Dave, I think you would beat them all, but I am still very fond of you)
