AROUND TOWN… Greetings from Moscow! Safe and sound after a very early start this morning. I am only here until Friday- I did not even bring my camera.
I take quite a lot of pictures which are never displayed on this blog and I am going to change that. These are from a recent saunter around our ‘hood and some of the surrounding areas. This set seems very wrought-ironed themed. For those of you who have not visited Edinburgh, it is a stunning city and I still cannot believe we live here.
Happy Monday! How was your weekend?
So as you know, I was in Istanbul last weekend.
FLASHBACK… Ben and I visited in 2008 and had a magical visit. He arranged a dinner on the oriental side of the Bosphorus. Part of the experience was taking a lovely wooden boat to a quiet seafood restaurant. It was magical.
FLASH FORWARD… MODERN DAY… I had Saturday to explore the city. This is my fourth visit, but only my second with an exploration opportunity. Enjoy lovely Istanbul.
More to follow- Istanbul Modern and Bosphorus Boat Tour.
OLYMPIC AMBIANCE II… We still have a bit of olympism (the spirit of the Olympics). Here are some additional photos from our fun day out.
Four more years until Rio 2016, will we be there? Probably not, but it is a great goal. Rio, let’s see what happens.
CITY WALK… Some shots of a sunny Edinburgh.
ANNIVERSARY FUN… Ben and I had such an enjoyable anniversary. Here are some of the pics from our morning and afternoon out.
The play we saw, Pass the Spoon, was not that great, I think we were the only two who were not enjoying the dancing banana and the alcoholic egg.
We also packed like crazy! We start moving tomorrow.
ALMATY… Here are some pictures of Almaty before the snow- while I was out and about- not at the hotel gym, where I was the only person working out four straight days! I do not know what is more amazing- no one else at the Dotysk Hotel works out or I exercised that many days in a row?
Two cultural tidbits- the currency of Kazakhstan is the tenge (pronounced- ten-gay) and people from Almaty are not called Almatians.
After my two favourite tech geeks gave me the same suggestion, I splurged ($3.99), on a new photo app for my iPhone. It is called Mattebox. Personally I do not find it as easy to use as Instagram or Hipstamatic, with their easy to tap pre-sets, but both Ben and Dave have told me to watch the instructional video, which I have, but will again.
Here are some of my first attempts.
(Our living Room)
(Viaduct at the Water of Leith)
(Icy stairs from my last 9-mile run)
(Bean Boots, just waiting for the snow)
The app was designed by a Ben Syverson, who has an impressive flickr photostream, it shows the potential of the app. I promise to work on my Mattebox skills.
CHRISTMAS AROUND EDINBURGH…
TOP PHOTOS OF 2011… The jury of one (Ben) is in and these are some of his favorite shots of us from last year.
Here’s hoping 2012 is filled with as much fun as 2011.
Have a great start to the year!
