After 4 months, it is official, I am now a resident of the United Kingdom.
Here is the formal wording from the letter:
I am returning your document which features an endorsement confirming your status.
At present your only claim to remain in the United Kingdom is as the family member of a European Economic Area (EEA) national who is exercising Treaty rights here. If your family member decides to leave the United Kingdom, or ceases to exercise Treaty rights, or if you cease to be a family member, you would have to remain in the United Kingdom in your own right.
The Directorate should be notified immediately if your family member decides to leave the United Kingdom, or ceases to exercise a Treaty right here, or if you cease to be a family member.
Ben nor I know what the Treaty rights are, but they seem quite important and something Ben can give up (I hope this does not happen over Lent). I have my fingers crossed, I do not stop being a family member. I am pretty keen on being in my family. It is pretty great.
Ben says I have nothing to worry about, but he is walking around with a little more power than usual. This is what I look forward to hearing around the house, ‘Buff, take out the trash or you’ll cease to be a family member.”
After checking, Ben has assured me, he is going to be careful about wielding his power and save it for big decisions.
